Responsibilities for visitor services manager

  • Process Memberships, ticket sales, and visitor feedback via front desk desktops and mobile devices
  • Track ticketed exhibition entry while monitoring building occupancy numbers
  • Receive and respond to phone inquiries
  • Greet and orient incoming tour groups
  • Evaluate employee performances
  • Operating the Museum Stores and Visitor Service Desk
  • Maintaining retail-related web pages and Inventory Management
  • Providing service to museum visitors, a continuation of the museum experience and generate earned income for the museum
  • Providing assistance and information to museum visitors
  • Welcoming ambassadors to our institution and generating earned income for the museum
  • Able to manage and organize large groups of people, especially students
  • Experience in a non-profit institution, particularly a museum visitor services department, and knowledge of a second language a plus
  • Ability to understand the museum’s mission and activities policies and procedures and effectively provide related talking points to visitor services staff
  • Successful experience working with diverse audiences (age, abilities, cultures )
  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in arts, culture, education, hospitality or closely related field, graduate degree a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in education, arts or cultural institution, or hospitality settings
