About the Role

As our District Sales Manager, you will be an integral player in the Region Sales - Jabodetabek team based in Jakarta, Indonesia. You'll take the wheel in overseeing the merchant campaigns and activities calendar for all SMB merchant partners, develop the overall regional merchant strategy, and ensure that all business objectives are achieved. You’ll have ample opportunity to flex your leadership, people management, and networking skills, managing a troop of account executives, relevant stakeholders, and a network of small and medium businesses in the district. Your efforts will ensure that all these parties are operating efficiently and in line with Gojek's targets and values, ultimately increasing our products' sales performances across the board.

What You Will Do

  • Design the overall regional merchant strategy, including acquiring and collaborating with merchant partners, followed by executing the plan as a way to ensure business objectives are achieved
  • Oversee and manage the performance of a team of Account Executives, including regular coaching & mentoring
  • Build and maintain relationships with a network of small & medium businesses in the district
  • Work with relevant stakeholders (e.g. Marketing) to ensure that sales strategies and merchant activities are aligned with the overall regional and nation-wide company objectives
  • Prepare sales forecast and budget
  • Set transaction targets in areas like product mix, sales volume, market shares, and new business development
  • Identify new sales opportunities within existing merchant accounts by up-selling and cross-selling existing products
  • Convey the consumer behavior, market insight, field situation, and market trend insights to the Regional and Head office level to complete the overall region strategy

What You Will Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in any field and willing to work from Jakarta
  • At least 5 years of experience within mid-to-senior management function (FMCG, SMB Banking and Telecom company)
  • Strong network and knowledge about the district
  • Ability to bridge, develop, and maintain strong relationships with key partners (such as but not limited to local or regional government stakeholders, 3rd party partners, merchant associations, and communities)
  • Strong business sense and a good understanding of the markets, customers, and competitors
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills (e.g. experience managing a big team, people development, and mentoring or coaching)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Fluent in English and Bahasa Indonesia
  • Fact-based or number-oriented individual; comfortable working under pressure in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
About the Team

Our Region team, a subsidiary of the Operations & Sales Region Jabodetabek, consists of more than 30 people across the region.
One of our main goals is to strengthen our market share in the SEA market, combining strategy with local insights to propel our business onwards and upwards. We are in charge of maintaining a holistic view of Gojek within the District team, constantly striving to better understand the region's issues from the ground up and provide tech-based solutions and actionable steps forward. We also collaborate with internal (Product Management and other cross-functional teams) and external (driver-partners, merchant-partners, and customers) stakeholders to keep a holistic view of Gojek, we strive to understand the region's issues and work to solve them with on-point actions and deliverables. Lastly, We ensure our platform is at the top of the minds of consumers at the same time improving our partner's life (drivers and merchants) and their experiences using our services. 

In the past, our team has worked on projects predominantly surrounding our driver-partners - their experiences using our services, their life cycle, their engagement with the company, and growing our driver-partner family, among other things. One of our favorite projects was a collaboration with the Gojek foundation to hand out scholarships to some of our driver-partners. More than establishing Gojek as the most trusted partner in the Region (and beyond), we want to make sure our driver-partners genuinely enjoy being part of our family and work to make sure they understand how appreciated they are.

It’s indeed a lot of work but we believe we work for the greater good hence we always feel every day is challenging but satisfying. As of now, working from home has been a strange time for a lot of us, so our team has been taking time on our calls to trade advice on the best ways to keep sane with this new work setup. We’re made up of cycling enthusiasts, video game lovers, and talk show fanatics. Once COVID subsides, we’re excited to get together for our weekly in-person hangouts once again.
