Job Description

We are looking for a responsible, organized, and hands-on Steward Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the Stewarding Department. The role is responsible for supervising the stewarding team, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, ensuring proper handling of kitchen equipment and utensils, and supporting the smooth operation of the hotel’s Food & Beverage outlets and kitchen areas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the Stewarding team.

• Assign duties and work schedules to stewards according to operational requirements.

• Ensure all kitchen utensils, equipment, dishes, glassware, and cutlery are properly cleaned and sanitized.

• Monitor the cleanliness and hygiene of kitchens, back-of-house areas, storage areas, and equipment.

• Ensure proper handling, storage, and maintenance of kitchen equipment and utensils.

• Monitor the use and availability of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment.

• Ensure all cleaning chemicals are properly labeled, stored, and used according to safety procedures.

• Conduct regular inspections of kitchen and stewarding areas to ensure cleanliness and hygiene standards are maintained.

• Coordinate with the Kitchen, Food & Beverage, Engineering, and other departments to support daily operations.

• Ensure proper waste segregation, disposal, and recycling procedures are followed.

• Monitor inventory levels of stewarding supplies and report shortages to the relevant department.

• Assist with receiving, storing, and organizing operating supplies when required.

• Train, guide, and supervise stewarding staff to maintain service and hygiene standards.

• Ensure compliance with hotel policies, HACCP, health and safety regulations, and sanitation standards.

• Handle operational issues and report maintenance or equipment problems to Engineering.

• Prepare or assist with daily reports, checklists, and departmental records.

• Ensure the Stewarding Department operates efficiently during busy periods and special events.

• Perform other duties assigned by the Executive Chef, Chief Steward, or Food & Beverage Management.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in Stewarding or Kitchen Operations, preferably in a hotel or restaurant environment.

• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

• Good knowledge of kitchen hygiene, sanitation, and cleaning procedures.

• Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards is an advantage.

• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

• Physically fit and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Able to work under pressure and manage a team effectively.

• Detail-oriented, responsible, and disciplined.

• Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
