Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel (Group Legal & Expansion), you will be a member of the Beam Legal Team with ownership and responsibility for legal and compliance matters within the Beam Group. Would be ideally suited to a lawyer looking to be a part of a unique dynamic culture where the Legal function sits as a central part of the business rather than a gatekeeper function. This is a unique experience to gain exposure to regional legal work and broaden your expertise outside Indonesia.

You will work closely with every part of the business and be able to utilise your legal skillset to really make a difference and drive positive impact. There will be exposure to a fast growth startup with a regional footprint and the career trajectory opportunity to match.

• Identify and consult on legal risks in relation to technology, privacy, security, and regulatory compliance matters in connection with development of new products and expansion into new markets/ verticals.
• Assist the Senior Legal Counsel in the establishment of a robust and effective Data Privacy and Compliance function.
• Assist with the implementation of a compliance framework for the Beam Group.
• Ensure compliance controls, procedures and training are in place to ensure that the businesses are fully compliant, including controls and procedures on the prevention, monitoring and investigation of AML, bribery and corruption; export control/sanctions; privacy; data security and breaches.
• Monitor regulatory and privacy law changes and make recommendations when appropriate.
• Serve as a point of contact for privacy and compliance queries from across the Beam Group.
• Participate in periodic compliance reviews on the design and effectiveness of our controls and procedures to mitigate regulatory and privacy risks.
• Provide commercial advice on TMT matters, including licensing, data sharing, IP and other tech related legal matters

• Qualified solicitor with minimum 3+ years PQE, ideally having exposure to both law firm and in-house environments
• Trained and qualified in Malaysia or Indonesia with experience in data privacy, compliance and TMT matters (Dual qualified is a plus)
• Proficiency in spoken and written English;
• Experience in startup an advantage
• Well-organized, detail-oriented, diplomatic and with excellent communication skills (verbal and in writing)
• Rapid execution capability - ability to work within tight time constraints on time-sensitive issues
• Commercial mindset - ability to strike the right balance between the growth needs of our organization whilst maintaining the appropriate level of compliance
