POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are looking for a passionate, high-performing individual to join a collaborative program team of Delterra colleagues, external staff, and local partners as an Operational Transformation Associate for Indonesia. We are looking for candidates with waste management, environmental, operational and/or engineering experience to transformation of TPS3R sites including working on its financial sustainability through creating offtake opportunities that ensure stable outflow of waste from the sites.

The role will be an exciting combination of driving analyses and on the ground implementation, working closely with a wide set of internal and external stakeholders. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading the operational transformation across several waste management facilities in the Denpasar region during their scale up
  • Capturing, implementing and codifying best practices to improve the recycling performance of the facilities and take a leadership role in exploring new ideas (e.g. regarding composting solutions, improved way of sorting, etc.)
  • Building operational capabilities of the team to drive efficient and impactful waste management services, including the coaching of junior team members
  • Building a strong relationship with operational managers who have the authority to implement the operations transformation in the waste management facility
  • Coordinating and ensuring synergy of the operational work with other workstreams to ensure timely delivery of key milestones
  • Tracking the facilities’ operational and financial performance and launching corrective actions
  • Introducing and implementing lean and digital tools to the waste management facility
  • Experimenting on and creating analysis (e.g., business cases) on production and offtake options that would meet the demand and create opportunities for higher income streams for TPS3Rs
  • Working with buyers to optimize and coordinate the sales of organics and recyclables.
  • Representing the organization within transformational efforts with partners and community at large

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum a Bachelor Education in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or relevant education background
  • Native or professional fluency in Bahasa Indonesia, fluency in English. Proficiency in Balinese is considered a strong plus
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, delivering complex implementation projects with diverse stakeholders and ideally some experience in sales and relationship management 
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, with a track record of pro-actively creating opportunities and thinking through next steps
  • Track record in building trust-based relationships with diverse stakeholders (e.g., waste workers, local partners or the informal waste sector)
  • Experience in delivering engaging, productive presentations and workshops
  • Demonstrated aptitude in conceptual and analytical problem solving (e.g., distilling themes from interviews, identifying important patterns/discrepancies in data)
  • The ideal candidate also has relevant industry experience (e.g., in sustainability, waste management)
  • Indonesian national willing to be based in southern Bali (see work permit note below)
