Executive Summary

From day 1, Chief of Staff to HOP will have an immediate impact on our product strategy, roadmap, as well as productivity in depth by streamlining cross product tribes and cross business strategic initiatives, and communicating product level objectives across the board. A successful Chief of Staff will be organized, strong in project management, able to shift seamlessly between strategic counsel and smaller daily tasks and have excellent communication skills. This person should be a team-player and eager to work in a fast-paced and high-expectations environment. They will contribute to strategic projects and initiatives that involve liaising with functions within the Head of Product’s scope and across the company.


About Kargo Product Team

Kargo Product Team consists of Product Management, Product Marketing, and Product Design functions. Our main job is to build products and services to achieve Kargo’s mission, and deliver best-in-class experience for our users: shippers (small businesses, enterprise businesses, freight forwarders), transporters (truck owner operators & their drivers) and internal team (our operations, customer success, finance, and sales team).

We operate a combination of human-centered design & design thinking approach in building solutions for our customers, and promote co-creation alongside our engineers and business team. We work in a dedicated team model where each squad has a designated mission and specific outcomes to achieve (we use OKR throughout the organization). Each Product Manager and Product Designer are ideally assigned with a few Product Engineers and QA Engineers to work together.

About the Job:

  • Work across teams to manage business rhythm for the Head of Product office (team meetings, operating cadence, newsletters/org communications etc.)
  • Act as a strategic counsel to XFN partners across tribes and business units under Enterprise and SME
  • Use product market research, competitor analysis, revenue, and product performance as data to build quarterly product roadmap and strategy
  • Working with Lead PMs to define each vertical roadmap and features planning along with capacity planning, releases dates, and guidelines to features roadmap
  • Develop budgets, forecasts, and product-business metrics, as well as pricing and competitive positioning for each product lineup
  • Define OKR target for Enterprise Tribe vertical (Core Brokerage, KargoNexus, Kargo Mobile, Growth, and Core Platform)
  • Ensure progress on priority work-streams, help build decision-making frameworks, and deliverables
  • Drive end to end product development from ideation, requirement, development, testing, launch, post go live improvement.
  • Create Product Requirement Document (PRD) that explains why we build the product, deep dive user pain points and how the product will bring impact to the users.
  • Work across teams to prepare briefings and coordinate research for meetings with partners and key leaders (e.g. identify goals and talking points, provide background on attendees, etc.)

About the Candidate

  • A record of accomplishment in roles blending project management and strategy in a relevant environment like management consulting, research communications, marketing or operations.
  • Experience in developing and managing shared services or platform products
  • Understanding of intermediate product management skills and continually implementing industry best practices
  • Problem solver with clear structure and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skill, both verbally and in writing
  • Proactive to make things happen and critical in ensuring progress
  • Experience working directly with people at all levels, including executive and C-suite level
  • Experience managing multiple tasks under timelines and shifting priorities
