Android Engineer - Merchant Risk

About the Role
Fasten your helmet and climb on board if you’re ready to be our next Android Engineer. In this role, you will be an integral player in the Risk Team based in Indonesia. Your main objective will be to build services for the Merchant Risk platform.
You'll work extensively with Data Scientists, Data Analysts, and Product Managers to detect and prevent fraudulent and/or abusive behaviors to ensure a trusted and fair core platform for our merchant-partners. You'll have ample opportunity to flex your collaboration and leadership skills, getting us even closer to our ultimate goal of creating a seamless app that will transport GoTo Financials to all corners of the globe.
What You Will Do
- Own the entire life cycle of small to medium complexity projects
- Craft high-quality, maintainable and well-tested code for our mobile app
- Communicate and closely collaborate with mobile, backend, QA and designers on a regular basis to ship high-quality features
- Be responsible for the ownership and end-to-end delivery of your stream of work
- Work closely with junior developers and guide them in adopting engineering best practices and conventions
- Participate in the design review process, seeking and providing constructive criticism
What You Will Need
- At least 3 years of experience in Android application development
- Strong understanding of the Android SDK and some of its internals
- Strong grasp on programming languages like Kotlin or JavaGood understanding and experience in Android architectures, design patterns, OO design principles; strong debugging and root cause analysis skills
- Experience with unit and instrumentation testing of code for robustness and reliability
- Hands-on experience with popular open-source libraries like Dagger, RxJava, OkHttp, Mockito, Espresso, and similar libraries
- A knack of writing clean, readable and maintainable code with experience shipping apps & managing releases/rollouts in Play StoreHands-on experience with Continuous Integration (CI) and dealing with Android fragmentation problems

Our Merchant Risk Engineering team is a talented family of engineers stationed across Jakarta and Singapore. The safety of Gojek’s platform is our top priority; our efforts impact the user experience and financials, among many other things. We play a critical role in ensuring the most credible and reliable tech platform for our users and merchant partners in our ecosystem.
Partnering closely with the Risk department, subject matter experts, product managers, and engineers, we work to deliver bold solutions to reduce fraud and abuse on the platform. We also enable the Product teams to save money & ensure enhanced user experiences through our microservices, automation(s), and analytical services.
We’re a high-performing, tight-knit team who are committed to the safety and growth of the company, as well as each other’s personal growth and wellbeing. Pre-Covid, factions of our team would enjoy catching up over a round of drinks after work. However, with WFH becoming more normalized, we've been sharing our favorite ways to prioritize a healthy work-life balance at home.
