AML Analyst

About the role:

  • Process and controls reviews: Interrogate and leverage data to support the QA team in evaluating the design and effectiveness of controls of AML processes/systems to ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory standards, and industry best practices
  • Continuous monitoring: Identify key AML controls and procedure requirements - and turn these requirements into data-driven rules for continuous monitoring to detect adverse cases in real-time for prompt remediation 
  • Documentation: Prepare comprehensive reports documenting the results of QA reviews, including findings, root cause analysis, and recommendations for corrective actions
  • Collaborate with teams: Work closely with the AML, Compliance, Product, and Data teams to address issues identified during QA reviews and to implement enhancements to AML processes
  • Continuous improvement: Participate in initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of AML processes, including the development of new QA methodologies and tools

Minimum qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in writing scripts for data processing in roles like Quality Assurance, Audit, Compliance, Risk Management or any other similar roles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to “think first principles” and break problems down into structured, actionable parts.
  • Knowledge of data analysis tools and software (e.g. SQL, Python, or R) and experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Knowledge of AML regulations and best practices is a plus.
  • Attention to detail and a strong understanding of QA/audit methodologies is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred qualifications: 

  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CAMS, CISA, CIA) are a plus
  • Experience in fintech or startup environments
  • Experience in banking or consulting environments
